Hi, anyone have any info on this older 12V power inverter unit? I got
one with a batch of solar panels at an auction, would like to know how
to go about testing it. There is a ribbon cable connection labeled "comm
port", that would also be good to know a bit about.

Guess again. My auto electrician is up that ramp off Pittwater Rd, but
it's a long way from PA's house.

You need to learn the technique of using a Variac or a light bulb in series with the AC input to test before applying full power.

that looks massively better than their earlier 70s junk I've seen. They really destroyed their rep with that stuff.

I'm guessing its something like 100m of 0.1mm diameter wire, however
many turns that would be, minus 1 or 2 would not be noticed surely.

I've always thought the antenna was part of a tuned circuit (tuned to
exactly 60 kHz). Are you sure 1 or 2 turns wouldn't affect that
tuning?
