BeO is very expensive. I would be very surprised to find any in such
application.

These were not made for the job. They have a hole for either TO220 or TOP66
maybe size transistors . So too wide for this use and the hole is not used
. The layout does not mean they have to be 1.8mm thick , any thickness from
mica up could have been accommodated. Normally you would go for the thinnest
of insulators.

I wonder how much 12 dozen TO3 BeO insulators would be worth ?

I cracked open a box of TO3 BeO insulators this afternoon...
I was very surprised ! I tried shining a red laser pointer through one.
Its weird but they do seem to glow but no direct light through it.
Putting one against a small hole in a cardboard box and viewing the sun
shows nothing, no light, nothing. Most odd !

Here's a place that is cheap for a compatible battery, but I have
never bought one from them. The seller has a decent rating.

Thank you for the URLs
Cost at $51.99 but is for the more storage version of 4400mAH [not
original 3600mAH]
plus free standard shipping, so cost is comparable.
Easy website to navigate, easy website to order from
Their return policy is austere, but makes sense if they;re running on
low margins.
will let you know of exeperience

Be aware that there is an unproven suspicion that the 4400mAH
batteries may be the source of "blink of death" failures. The fear is
that they take too much current out of the charging circuitry and blow
a chip, fuse, or resistor, which seem to be found with this fault.
What is other people's experience with these enhanced storage
batteries? I bought one, but I'm afraid to use it.

Thanks, I bought things like: ext. drive cases, flashlights,IDE to SATA

good so far. I will be needing a Dell battery..so I will appreciate

According to the Lattice datasheet, 100 cycles.

As a relatively old device, the limit may be in the 10's or 100's. A
similar chip, Atmel's ATF16V8CZ, lists 100 as the reprogram limit.

Thanks for the suggestions. I succeeded in desoldering the
Gate lead of the transistor so I could test it
out-of-circuit. But, it tested ok. So that wasn't the
problem after all.
However, after reassembly and doing a global reset of the
camera settings, it's working properly now.

** The amount of work has increased.
Pb free solder is often brittle and cracks easily under thermal cycling,
stress or vibrations.
Standard procedure round here is to remove it with wick and use some real
60/40 Savbit solder to make the repair.

Got a dumb question.... I have an electric mower that uses two 12V lead acid batteries wired in series to give 24V. The batteries are marked 18Ah. Cost is around $100 for one 12v, or $140 for 2 in series, including shipping.
For the same money or less, I can get two std 12v car batteries and end up with more amp hours to boot, which would be good for a mower. Heavier to push around, but that's not a problem.
I don't know nuthin about how amp-hours work - reckon this would be a good idea? Anyone had experience with this kind of thing before?
