I dug out a couple of ancient boxes , 1930s?,of some locally made "Health Ray Infra-Red Carbons" from when you could say on the box that such rays cured everything except cancer and no namby-pamby H&S concerns about covering the heated rods to stop toasting forks or whatever. I have a nice old timer here that I want to use for some older applications (ancient EPROM programmer) and this would work nicely if I could find the drivers. At the moment I can only find invalid torrents or what certainly looks like malware 'drivers' to download. You will likely need drivers, but then of course you find them. DO NOT LET ANY ONLINE bULLSHIT FIND YOUR DRIVERS, you must find them yourself. When it says "driver" on the web, whether or not it said "update" is irrelevant. The updates that are real come from Microsoft or the manufacturer.   Reject all of them. I mena really, if it is working, you need nothing. All you might need is a virus software update, your OS and drivers wORK NOW. Why would anyone fuck with them ?   Words to the wise, if it ain't broke...

So the thing chugs along with 800 X 600 @ 16 colours, no ethernet, no audio, etc. and while it works it doesn't work well.   I hate wasting perfectly good equipment that can support a periodic legacy job that I need done.   The drivers are not available from Microsoft, IBM, Lenovo, or any recognized source, just the scammers and malware hosts. My searches didn't turn those pages up, most likely (as you say) I was using the model number 2647-44U and not the type T20. Go to change them in the display and press the now red "save" button and the display comes up "memory locked" . Nothing in manual to say how to unlock. A forum for frustrated fenderers has press Utility button twice but that does not work with this PR 938 flavour of amp.

It shows the Acer screen for about 10 seconds, blanks, restarts.   I can do the Vol- & Power button thing to get into System Recovery mode, so I know the unit itself works, but I'm guessing whatever stores the OS is wiped, dead or disconnected.   I d/l'd a Service Manual for the thing, but I can't find a reference to where the internal storage is located   Does this device use an external SD card to store the OS? I've never worked on one of these before.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Generally, if the area in question has no clear cut boundaries or line of demarcation and looks more like a stain, it's the display. If you post a pic on line and link it, we can get a better idea.
