tabbypurr@gmail.com: Jan 16 12:26PM -0800 Dyson DC50, a lightweight ok but nothing spectacular machine except the air passages are too narrow. Suction of dirt from the floor head is very poor. Hoses checked clear, changeover mechanism works correctly, head is unblocked, brush roll works fine, cyclone has been washed out, top filter washed out & output filter removed for now until it works right, then I can put it back but not sure I will. So I tried to disassemble the cyclone without luck. Removed outer bin. Released all the tabs on the mesh unit that surrounds the central core, but one part of it would not budge out no matter what. I can't see why, and there seems no other route to get into the cyclone assembly. Any ideas? I'm a bit fed up with it. NT |

Go to your local tip(s) and see if there is another DC50 there (there seemed to be more Dysons than other makes when I dropped off some electronic junk at my local tip last week). If there is one, ask the tip operators if you can have one of the cyclones to (a) swap with your one or (b) try to take apart. If the cyclones have no scrap value, there shouldn't be a reason why they won't let you take it. -- Jeff |

I once heard that thread and other bits of fabric can get caught up in the moving parts and melt if synthetic. I wonder what gets that out without a disassembly? |

I wonder what gets that out without a disassembly? Disassembly. But with a Dyson, that is not very difficult. In the 12 years we have had our unit, I have torn it down twice for general cleaning. takes about an hour from start-to-finish, and does make a difference. Peter Wieck Melrose Park, PA |
tabbypurr@gmail.com: Jan 16 12:04PM -0800 > As to R&M, I have replaced the filters, internal hoses and brush-bar on the Dyson - all in, about 20 minutes work and less than $75 for OEM Dyson parts. Otherwise, it has managed 4,800 square feet, two long-haired cats, a golden and a Scottie without any trouble from purchase to-date. > Peter Wieck > Melrose Park, PA I just did that comparison using first the dyson, then the ancient Hoover 119. The Hoover did a better job. Methinks the Dyson is not feeling well. I don't yet know why: the hoses are all clear, the ball sucks great without the cyclone on, the cyclone I washed out, the filters have been washed... NT |

Methinks the Dyson is not feeling well. I don't yet know why: the hoses are all clear, the ball sucks great without the cyclone on, the cyclone I washed out, the filters have been washed... There are two places where a Dyson will accumulate blockages that are not obvious: a) At the slip-joint between the ball and the wand. That will hang up and not transition properly, and sometimes form a tail of crud will extend half-way up the wand. b) Between the knuckle-joint and the sweeper head. There is a nubby hose there that slips through the articulated head, then snaps onto the upright section. This will often split right at either end, the tear being invisible under normal use. https://www.amazon.com/d/Vacuum-Hoses/Genuine-Dyson-Internal-Assembly-DY-916579-01/B00DCRERRK/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1546367719&sr=8-8&keywords=dyson+DC18+parts The other weak spot is the brushes themselves. The ends will fill up with crud and slow the spin way down. Not good. Clean everything out and make sure the brushes spin freely. And if they are 10 or more years old, simply replace them. jaugustine@verizon.net: Jan 16 12:29PM -0500 Hi, I have a Panasonic DVD recorder, model DMR-ES20, issue. When you plug it in (AC outlet), the rolling "ooooooo" (initializing/recovery) never ends. I can force it to go into standby by holding the Power button (on front panel) for 10 seconds. Now there is a flashing "12:00AM". Next, I press the power button on unit or remote, and a "Hello" appears. Normally, the "Hello" appears for a few seconds, then goes away. Now, "Hello" stays on for hours (endless). I did not wait to see how many hours. Note: If I hold the power button for 10 seconds on the unit, the display changes back to the flashing "12:00AM". However, I still can NOT use this recorder. FYI: I "Googled" for a solution to this problem, but all I found out, I am NOT the only one with this problem. The last time I posted this problem several months ago, I received several replies with a variety of suggestions that I had already tried. PLEASE, I am looking for someone who had the EXACT SAME problem with this model, "DMR-ES20" (NO letters after "20"), and he/she FIXED IT. What did you do to fix this problem? Thank You in advance, John |
Look165 <look165@numericable.fr>: Jan 16 06:50PM +0100 Without having this DVD recorder, I would say : the saving battery (generally a CR2032). Yhe clock is reset and the lectronic system is in an unstable status. |

I actually gave him enough information the last two times he posted to fix this, but he's waiting for that magic bullet (you know - change D6130 on the main board type of help). I would have (and could have) been a bit more specific but he was very snarkish in that he wanted the specific part number and location, or no help at all. I've fixed many of those Panasonic DVD/(VHS) recorders, and there are several reasons why they won't finish the boot which is what's going on with that Panasonic. I have a pretty good idea which type of component he needs, but it could be one of several which all cause the same symptom. His best bet is to give it to professional to fix, buy a working one on ebay, or just move on. |
