Check with your airline - some may have house rules about what they will
allow in checked and/or carry-on luggage.

If you stop or change planes anywhere en route to Kenya, its not a bad
idea to check that country's rules too.

Example: three years ago I changed planes in Dubai en route from London
to India (on Emirates flights). Everybody had to go through security
there. In security a couple of spare 1000mAh batteries for my Panasonic
TZ-70 bridge camera removed from my hand luggage and not returned. These
were well under the allowed total capacity - I'd checked that previously.
When I complained after the trip the response was "local rules - tough".

Most modern phones and tablets will charge from a 240V wall socket.
240V is standard where live (UK). I've been to many other countries
and not usually had a problem with the supplies apart from those that
have two pin sockets so the plug on my saver wouldn't fit. A long time
ago I had a serious problem on a ship. It had a DC supply so nothing I
had would charge!

Maybe next time, try damping grease:

I use a similar Nye grease for lubricating microscope gears[1], which
I've also used successfully for potentiometers and controls when
necessary. The stuff is outrageously expensive, but a small tube will
last a long time. You can get a 5 tube sample of different
viscosities fairly cheap from the company. However, I suspect
ordering a new control from Sony might be easier and cheaper.

Been looking for something like damping grease.

Spare Change <noncompliant@notcompliant.zgq>: Mar 02 11:41PM -0800

The service manual for Brother HL-22xx (2240, 2250, 2270, etc.) printers says
there is a "maintenance device driver" (which, from documentation I've
seen, seems to be an app) for windows.

I've searched the 'net but can't find this--or other--service apps for
Brother.

Any pointers to any Brother service apps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
