I don't know where you got that little compendium but it sounds right. The thing with Mexicans was a totally different planet, people crossed the border both ways without even giving it a thought. That was before we were overpopulated, and don't gimme this shit that we ain't and look at other countries, this ain't other countries. I want to have something to mow, a grill, bunch of chairs in mt 3½ car garage that has a crane and floor anchor for car frame straightening, should the need arise of course. You can take your "flat", another word for "projects" and stick them where they are sure not to get a sunburn. |

You mean taking guns away form law abiding Citizens so that only criminals have them ? That is part of the plane. Get with the program here. They get paid to fight crime. They get paid to put people in prison. (you REALLY think is costs sixty grand apiece to house them ? Bullshit) Now take those two facts and figure out your most profitable course of action. The most logical course of action is to lock up the innocent and let the guilty go free. If you think they wouldn't do it that beachfront property in Belin, New Mexico might still be available. Those people are more ruthless than you could ever imagine, but I can. I belong dead like ten times over and the only reason I am not is because I know how to get nastier then the other mother fucker. And they make me look like Mother Theresa and I don't mean that cunt up in England. Watch the telly. (pay that tax or they will come for you) The TV makes you think every time someone dies they spend six million bucks investigating. Bullshit. First of all over half the murders in this country are unsolved. When they do investigate they decide who they think did it in five minutes, then go to proving it ignoring all kinds of evidence pointing to someone else. Why ? They make the same amount of money no matter which way they do it. They really don't care who is guilty, all they care is who is easiest to throw in jail. One little thing about them punks, when they start coercing you to confess that means they have serious doubts about being able to convict you. And none of them are all that smart, in fact there are police departments all over this country that won't hire you if your IQ tests too high. I bet the BBC didn't tell you that shit but come on over and see that it is true. When I am bullshitting I admit freely that I am bullshitting, here, I am not bullshitting. |

Sometimes it is "Try it asshole". Try me, I can take out a bird in flight with a pistol. Yup. And that was before they fixed my eyes. Well I wore glasses and it was corrected pretty well but still now that they worked on them I can't believe how great it is to really be able to see. Damn, I use both eyes and the sights are clear and the target is clear. Down the street - which eye do you want it in ? Still I won't carry. Know why ? Many years ago I was the guy everyone called to help them move. First of all I was one of only three people who can back up a trailer. Second of all let's put it this way, once I carried a stove down a whole flight of stairs by myself. Carry ? The other day I picked up a bag of mortar for the garage, the corner is like, getting gone. Not sure if something is trying to chew through or what but that is neither here or there. So I PICKED up this bag of mortar. Type S, 80 pounds. PICKED UP. I moved it from the shelf to the cart at the local DIY joint, wheeled it to the checkout, PICKED it up and put it in the car, then at home PICKED it up ... It took so much out of me I, well... I know that if you can't handle yourself physically a gun won't do you much good. I still have some moves and sure I can still kill with my hands, but when it comes to wrestling over a firearm that takes strength and I don't have it. The less physically you are able the more odds someone can take the gun away from you and then you are in worse shape than if you didn't have it at all. I know you don't think much of me but I am not stupid and I am not irresponsible. So I don't carry. I WILL, like if I am carrying a shitload of cash or something very valuable, but not usually. I might, say if I have to walk to the bank. I usually take out like $400 at a time because I do not feel like keeping going down there. At that point, maybe. But I haven't had to walk down there so... I just don't have what it takes to be a quasi-cop anymore. |

Jeff Urban <jurb6006@gmail.com>: Aug 10 06:33AM -0700 >I challenge you to back up your statement up with facts. I back it up with lead. I think 241 grains ? And they kill. I mean if I hit you in the arm you have a 50/50 chance of dying. I do not care if they kill a million people a day,. we got enough for almost a whole year. And then when they get to like month eight and we are down to like 80 million people here, the place will be a seriously great place to live. If it turns out I have to die for the good of society (there are a few people who agree with that statement like 900%) then so be it. Gimme a conmpter to write down my last shit and then shoot. |
Jeff Urban <jurb6006@gmail.com>: Aug 10 06:43AM -0700 >Very easy for there to be a mismatch, such as old people carry >guns while young people go to see batman films ... Strange wording but I think I get what you mean. Just because you can carry doesn't mean you always do. The theater ? It has happened buy rarely. The grocery store, the odds just don't warrant the heightened level of responsibility and the awareness you must maintain. Say I want a pound of weed, well that is different. Say I have to go to the east side and make whatever deal, maybe buy a car (truck, fuck cars) maybe then. See Cleveland is like two cities, east and west. In fact it used to be two cities, they merged a long time ago. But there are still places like that Whites don't go and places Blacks don't go. When you cross that line bring your iron. |

When I fired a lawyer it was because he told me something. The deal is the thought I was drunk but I wasn't. I was sick and in a shitload of pain and they took that as stumbling. The lawyer told me if they hadn't busted me and I went on to hurt myself or others they could be sued. I already knew that wasn't true, and can drag my writ in here proving otherwise, citing five high court cases, know of them THE supreme court with Antonin Scalia writing the majority opinion. I got the document on my other PC, a laptop, yik. I doubt I'll ever buy another. I'll drag it in here. It has all the info, case numbers and all that shit. The bottom line is while you can sue them for things they do, you cannot sue them for things they do not do. They could watch someone blow your head off and just drive away and there isn't a damn thing anybody can do about it. If you doubt, look it up. I did. And I got it from dot govs and dot edus, not some Alex Jones type bullshit here. |
etpm@whidbey.com: Aug 09 01:59PM -0700 Greetings All, My son acquired and old oscilloscope, plugged it in, said he got a spot and then nothing. The scope is an old military unit. The model is AN/USM 117B. The power cord had been removed so I looked inside to see if I could determine where it used to go. I saw what looked like a capacitor in a rectangular can with hermetically sealed pins, 2 on each end, coming out. One pin hole was empty and it looks like solder is splashed on the can around the empty hole. This can is called a "Filter" on the schematic. I found the manual online and looked at the schematic. There are two schematics in the manual showing input power. One has the power going through the filter and the other does not. Each schematic is labeled the same. Since one schematic does not show the filter I want to bypass the filter. Does this sound like a bad idea? I don't really care much about the old scope, but I would like to get it going well enough to turn it into a scope clock. Thanks, Eric |

Eric- My impression is that the filter is not needed for home use. If it were mine, I would remove it. Make sure you connect the 3-wire power cord safely. Assuming only one side of the line is switched, that would be the "hot" side. And be sure power-line ground connects to your chassis. Fred |

In looking at the manual, it appears to me that the original AN/USM-177 version of the scope does not include this filter, while the later AN/USB-117B versions do. > Since one schematic does not show the filter I want to bypass the >filter. Does this sound like a bad idea? It is probably not _functionally_ required, but the scope's performance and reliability might be slightly affected without it. Filters like this serve two purposes: they help keep any RF noise on the power lines from getting into the scope (coupling through the power trnasformer and getting into the power supply rails) and noise generated within the device (e.g. switching noise from the diodes in the power supply) from getting back out into the power lines. In a low-power device like this, the former role is a lot more significant. The FL201 filter module looks like a "differential mode only" filter... it's probably got one or more inductors in series with the two power wires, and perhaps a capacitor or two between them. It doesn't show a connection to chassis/ground and so may or may not provide common-mode filtering. > I don't really care much about the old scope, but I would like to >get it going well enough to turn it into a scope clock. It should work with the filter bypassed. If you want, you could pick up a more modern filter module (Corcom makes 'em in many sizes) and wire that one in, in its place. A lot of the newer ones have both common- and differential-mode filtering. On the line side, they have three leads - hot, neutral, and chassis/ground - and would be wired to all three of the contacts on the power plug. You can also buy single-piece "power entry" modules, which take a modern IEC power cable (the type you see plugged into computers and the like) and which incorporate a filter of this sort inside the module. All Electronics has a couple of 'em in stock. They might or might not fit your chassis, with or without modification. |

I've seen them on the All Electronics site. In the meantime I think I should try to check as many caps as I can. I'm not sure about how well the scope will work if any caps are replaced but maybe I can adjust the scope by using the manual. It looks really comprehensive. Thanks, Eric |

Yes, failed 'lytic caps are a prime suspect in equipment as old as this. You're likely to find a bunch that have dried out and/or leaked - many will probably show low capacitance and/or high ESR. Be sure to be careful about high voltage - the HV filter caps and even the CRT itself can hold enough charge to lethally ruin your whole day (and all of the ones that follow). |

Replace every one of them, paper and electrolytic Leave the ceramic and mica alone for now. Also, remove the filter. Connect directly, also for now. Lytics are sometimes fine, sometimes bad. Papers mostly bad, and the ones that aren't soon will be 'Micamould' caps are paper not mica, they just imitate mica caps Ceramic & film are usually fine. Wholesale replacement is not usually a great policy. NT |
