Hi Michael,

The oscillating is at the same frequency of the signal output (1kHz) so I
assume that is not a parasitic oscillation. I make a mistake in identifying
the correct IC, I should have said U203 is where the wild voltage swing
takes place.

Here are some readings I made with my low capacity 10:1 probe:

U202, pin 6 output, selector set to 1% range, 4.8 Vp-p.
U203, pin 6 output, selector set to 1% range, 0.0 Vp-p.

U202, pin 6 output, selector set to .3% range, 3.8 Vp-p.
U203, pin 6 output, selector set to .3% range, 2.8 Vp-p.

I was about to end my message at this point when I went back and re-read
your message to make sure I didn't leave anything out. I noticed the part
where you mentioned comparing the good analyzer to the bad one. So I
disassembled the good one and checked the dc voltages first. They were ok as
were the dc voltages on the bad one. On the AC side, of course the voltages
were zero at the output of U203 on the good one. Here comes the fun part.
While probing around the bad one again, I could hear the meter pegging as I
was touching different pins trying to hold my hand steady. All of a sudden,
the signal was gone and the meter stopped pegging. It seems to be working
correctly now. BUT if I move the frequency select switches from X100 on the
top row, X10 on the next row to X10 on the top row, X100 on the next row
(still maintaining a 1kHz signal), the distortion is much higher, over 3%.
If I gently tap the X100 switch on row 2, the meter jumps around like a bad
tape monitor switch but never drops below 3%. There is a yellow sticker on
the shield that covers the frequency selector switches that says, "WARNING
DO NOT SPRAY SWITCHES. PUSHBUTTON SWITCHES ARE PERMANENTLY LUBRICATED." etc.
etc. Perhaps the switches are causing all of these symptoms?

Thanks for your reply,

Pushbutton switches are a pain in the ass. From the age of the
equipment I would guess that they were made by ALPS? I have had a lot
of bad interlocking pushbutton switches over the years. The silver
plating is low grade, and I've even seen it flake off. The contact lube
used in some switches is a low grade grease that washes away with
contact cleaner, exposing the contacts to contaminants. Mouser carried
some push button switches the last time I looked. I always used some GC
Tunerlube to replace the lube in pushbutton switches when I had to clean
them. Check out the http://www.mouser.com site to see if you can find
new switches, or turn the unit of and press the buttons 50 to 100 times
each to wear away any oxide, then relubricate the switches.

If you can't find what you need, post some pictures of the switches
and I'll see if I have any in my collection.

Switchcraft made my favorites, but they are quite expensive.

Been awhile since I looked inside, I'll have to open 'em back up and
see what numbers are on them (if any, I can't remember).

Makes sense, I'll confirm that the service entrance ground is in good
condition, too.

An honest bud would simply post numeric specs to prove what he
claims. He cannot. No plug-in protector claims that protection from
each type of surge. bud is a promoter. He again posts insults
because his protectors do not claim protection in numeric specs.
Honesty is not bud.

What do his citations show? Page 42 Figure 8. A protector too far
from earth ground and too close to TVs earths a surge 8000 volts
destructively through that TV. IEEE brochure Page 42 Figure 8
demonstrates why high profit plug-in protectors do not even claim
protection in numeric specs. Bud's job is to lie and insult so that
you will ignore what he cannot provide - effective protection.

Where are those numeric specs that claim surge protection? bud
promotes these things – and still cannot find those numeric specs.

Another true story: I was at the Dayton hamfest about 25 years ago
when a friend walked up and saw people buying a lot of things from me.
He said he had a lot of the same things, and hadn't sold anything. I
had another friend watch my stuff while we went to his tables. I saw
his problem, right away. Everything was too cheap. To a lot of people
it said, that the merchandise was either defective or stolen, and they
wouldn't touch it. I ripped up all his price tags and wrote new tags.
He was telling me that I was crazy, but people started buying his parts
& equipment, so I headed back to my spot.

He came back at the end of the day to tell me that he had sold almost
everything, but he still couldn't understand what happened. I explained
how I priced my merchandise at hamfests: You make a quick trip around
the market, looking at prices. If i saw something for $2 in one spot
and $5 at another I would split the difference. That would be $3.50, so
I would round it up to $4.00 to keep from needing too much change. It
also gave me a little room to dicker, since people would want to knock a
dollar off of two, at that price. :)

I went to one hamfest with a $20 bill, and $35 worth of equipment. By
the end of the day I had made over $200, and had a van full of used test
equipment and parts. I had sold everything in the first 15 minutes, so
I went out and spent all the money. I couldn't leave till the event was
over, so I just sat behind my van to talk to friends as they passed.
People saw what I had bought, and didn't care that I had sold out of
everything. They offered me more than what the purchases were worth to
me, so I sold it all. I went out again, and spent all the money, then
went back to my truck. I was cleaned out again, and made one last trip
to buy stuff for my shop.

Clearly, you can't read, which is why you probably can't understand a simple
system. Twat.

What are the shiny CDROM-sized platters in an old desktop disk drive made
out of?

I glued two of them together so that the offset covered the center hole to
use as an indestructable traveling shaving mirror.

A friend said they won't pass TSA security but they're not sharp. They are
just really shiny and really flat.

What are they made out of anyway?

They are usually glass or aluminium.

I've taken them apart but I didnt' try bending them. If you really
think the tsa will complain, bring another one you can bend for them.
Maybe that will help, if they really do complain. Or bend the double
one you're bringing and use the bent part as a stand.

reflection. Something he might not have known from his vantage

INCONTROVERTIBLE PROOF of the Incompetence of FBI
INCONTROVERTIBLE PROOF of the Incompetence of FBI
INCONTROVERTIBLE PROOF of the Incompetence of FBI

This is all due to DISINFORMATION - FBI bustards are the cause of it.
The prime suspect of ANTHRAX is beyond doubt a white or jew (american
or israeli) and one name is Zack who worked at AIMES Iowa. The 911 is
also a jew job or white job. If this bustard were knowledgeable, he
would be hunting for 911 doers in Washington, Langley Virginia, Kroll
or Blackwater.

Here is what Webster Tarpley reveals recently:

By LEE FERRAN and MATTHEW COLE
June 15, 2010

The American arrested in Pakistan who was on a solo mission to hunt
down Osama bin Laden told police he was intent on avenging the victims
of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Gary Brooks Faulkner - Bin Laden hunter

County, Colo. Sheriff's
Office... Expand

Authorities said Gary Brooks Faulkner, a construction worker who lived
in Greeley, Colo., was arrested attempting to cross into Afghanistan
in the mountainous region of northern Pakistan. He was armed with a
pistol, sword, night vision goggles, a map and was reportedly carrying
Christian literature.

Police arrested Faulkner, 51, in a hotel near the Afghanistan border.
Police said that when he was arrested, Faulkner claimed he was going
to take revenge for al Qaeda's terror attacks on the Pentagon and the
World Trade Center.

Faulkner's brother-in-law JohnMartin told ABC News that Faulkner
talked openly with the family about his plans to hunt down the al
Qaeda leader.

"He's a very deeply religious individual, very patriotic," Martin
said. "It seemed to be his thing. He thought it should be done and he
thought he could accomplish it."

Osama bin Laden has evaded one of the largest international manhunts
in history and remains on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list.

Martin said Faulkner was not trained in anyway for a seek and destroy
mission and had no military training, though he had been to the region
before. Faulkner's brother Scott said he was trained in martial arts
and a sword and dagger were his "weapons of choice."

Faulkner also has an arrest record and spent time in Colorado prisons,
according to public records.

Family: Faulkner is Not Crazy, Maybe Non-Traditional

"We initially laughed when he told us he wanted to kill Osama bin
Laden," said one official, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, according to The
Associated Press.
Osama Bin Laden why can't we find the Pakistani Taliban leader?

While going on such a mission in hostile territory alone and with no
training to find the most wanted man on the planet may have seemed
ridiculous to many, Faulkner's sister, brother said he had made
several trips to the area to reconoiter bin Laden's possible location
-- and believed he had found the cave where the al Qaeda leader was
hiding.

Scott Faulkner said his brother had "stood at its entrance, possibly
within 100 feet" of where he believe his target was living.

Even if his brother's mission failed and even if he died trying, Scott
Faulkner said his brother would "love" the media attention.

"It's waking America back up... The fact that it's bringing it back in
the forefront of the American psyche, now there's hopefully going to
be a renewed effort to get this guy," Scott Faulkner said.

While he was likely aware of the hefty $25 million reward for
information leading to Bin Laden's arrest, Martin said the cause was
more important.

Where are the 4 blackboxes ? Where are the Pentagon Videos ? Why did
you release the 5 dancing Israelis compromising the whole 911
investigation ? If the Dubai Police can catch Mossad Murderers and put
the videos and Iranian Police can why cant you put the Pentagon
Videos ? If Iran police can put the AMERICAN TERRORIST, Riggi and
puting on INTERNATIONAL MEDIA a day after catching him without
TORTURE, why cant you put the INNOCENT patsies on the MEDIA. Why did
you have to LIE about Dr Afiya Siddiqui and torture that Innocent
