Also forgot to mention: no audio through speakers, and through
headphones nothing either -well, I get a low hiss (vol. at full) when
in tuner mode, despite the search mode working and stations appearing

My educated and experienced guess is a missing voltage.

Interestingly, Wikipedia says:
"The IEC-169-2 connector is recognised as a source of signal distortion
and has become a particular concern with digital signal reception,
specifically UHF HDTV."

I recall that my own measurements (in the 1960s) indicated that a
genuine B&L connector was actually a pretty good match at UHF TV
frequencies (well, up to 500MHz or so) - certainly not enough to give me
any concerns that the whole of the TV industry had made a bad choice of
connector.

Much of the untaxed ethanol uses the benzene process.

Right. Methanol is a very poor denaturant. The idea is to make it

The treatment for Methanol poisoning is Ethanol and lots of it. Usually by
IV.

AIUI, this swamps the liver so it doesn't produce as much formaldehyde at
once.

Yup. Recipies for denaturing ethanol seem to vary a lot by country
and by intended application of the denatured alcohol.

http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/27cfr21_03.html lists a
bunch of different formulas that are specifically defined and
authorized in the U.S. for certain applications. Some of them seem
downright scary:

Formula 2-C: To every 100 gallons of alcohol add thirty-three pounds
or more of metallic sodium and either 1/2 gallon of
benzene, 1/2 gallon of toluene, or 1/2 gallon of
rubber hydrocarbon solvent.

5 gallons of methanol per 100 gallons of ethanol is Formula 3-A.

The same treatment is also used at times in cases of poisoning due to
ethylene glycol (antifreeze). If I recall correctly, the idea is to
saturate the liver's conversion-enzyme system with ethanol, thus
blocking the breakdown of methanol or glycol into toxic byproducts.

No valid emails used on usenet
The one with leaky TO92 repaired and waiting for owner to return from
holiday.
Second one initially looked at , problems again in a TO02 device in a
different area of one amp, gone B-C-E shorted so more obvious a problem.
Waiting for owner to return before progressing on that one. Third one not
looked at other than also goes into protect and no obvious problems with the
TO3s , perhaps so well protected that rarely do the YO3s get a chance to
fail.

I will use a valid email account to contact you

Well, to some extent, that's the nature of the beast with tube amps.
Obviously, if you run something like a continuous sine with a direct short
across the output, given time, you're going to twat the output transformer,
but the general rule, for normal music running through an amp, is that
semiconductor amps don't like a short, but don't mind an open, and the
opposite case for tube amps, as without any primary-side damping from
secondary side load, the p-p voltages that appear across the primary, can
cause internal flashover of the tubes, and insulation breakdown in the
transformer.
