Ha!

Your one-line responses are generally annoying, but this one's a zinger!

To change the subject... That reminds me of what was arguably Karnak's best

I own a 1975 PV Artist 1x15". I bought it back in the mid 80's. PV didn't
deviate much from this design in their later years. I also own a PV MX -
VTX 1x12". Again not much change as for PV the apple never seems to fall
far from the tree.

My current guitar amp config is a PV Tube Fex FX/stereo preamp into a
Studiomaster 700D. That sits on top a PV 4x12" cabinet wired in stereo.
Two stock PV 12's and two Jackson (red cone) 12's. I got the cabinet for
a song and a dance and it sounds as good as any Marshall 1960 cabinet
I've ever played through.

Phil is unpredictable in his lashing out. Sometimes the slightest thing
sets him off. Last year he said I should die by a shotgun. I just
wondered if his feelings have changed.

310 deaths last year. About 1/3 of the electrical fires involve
electrical shorts of some sort. Even with fuses in the power plugs,
shorts in the walls will have the same effect in both systems:
<http://www.interfire.org/features/electric_wiring_faults.asp>
...for 1993 - 1997 are that 41,200 home structure fires
per year are attributed to electrical distribution. These
electrical distribution fires account for 336 civilian deaths,
1446 civilian injuries, and $643.9 million in direct property
damage per year.

<http://www.nfpa.org/assets/files//PDF/Proceedings/Ahrens_presentation.pdf>

<http://www.usfa.dhs.gov/citizens/home_fire_prev/electrical.shtm>
During a typical year, home electrical problems account for
28,600 fires and $1.1 billion in property losses. 53% of
residential electrical fires involve electrical wiring.

I couldn't find any statistics for UK.

About half the solder joints on the input sub-board are bad. A .25 and M&F
XLR each ch with no obvious reason why, as all sockets are individually
fixed to stout chassis metal . Even the never been used quarter inch sockets
have bad solder joints. The solder looks good otherwise.

Its easy enough to test. In the old days a buzz box was used, nowadays
no one bothers ! Its far cheaper just to throw it in the scrap box and
buy a new one.

I'll bet that if you look very carefully at the commutator segments, you
will find that one or more are loose and its likely that the loose
segment is OC.

> We thought that even if we determined which winding is damaged,

Its very rare for the windings themselves to get damaged. Open or short
circuits at the commutator segments is very common.
I don't remember the last time I saw anybody repair a bad commutator !
Not on fractional motors/generators anyway.
