"pfjw@aol.com" <pfjw@aol.com>: Dec 14 07:21AM -0800 OK- I found one of these out of Luxembourg for (relative) sparrow-feed, listed as 'not working' that I snagged the other day. Although it has not yet arrived I am preparing for the restoration. Some history: This will be my second A722. The first is now residing happily (and heavily) used with my 13 YO grand-daughter paired with the A720 and Piccolo speakers. That one was 'working' when it came into my hands via Denmark, needing only a few caps, lamps and a bit of cleaning. Although compact inside, they are assembled logically and every part can be reached. The intention here is that this unit will join my other A720 in the other all-Revox system that includes the various moving parts - RtR, CD, Cassette and TT. I have a good, clean copy of the shop manual & schematics. I have a good stock of compatible transistors and the means to match them if needed, most of the caps (I will have to acquire the correct 10,000uF @ 63V main filters (4), but I have identified good sources with quick delivery (including Amazon of all places). ' In any case, has anyone here ever dived into this amp? Any suggestions? Otherwise, I will start at one end and work my way across to the other. http://www.reeltoreel.de/worldwide/A722.htm is a link to the device. Thanks in advance! Peter Wieck Melrose Park, PA |

Yes, it is an odd discussion and, because of that, one that I have been loath to become involved in. FWIW, back when I was doing wheel alignments, and lots of them, Toe was always designated as a 'linear measurement', usually in fractions of an inch for most of the vehicles that I worked on, and it was never an issue. The equipment I used, from the very basic to the most sophisticated computer types, had both linear and degree scales so the issue in this thread is really a non-runner. What's more, there always seemed to be some sort of conversion chart on hand, supplied by the equipment manufacturer, so there was never a need to deal with trig functions. Failing that, these days there are internet options of which I supplied the URL to one such in a past post. -- Xeno First they ignore you, Then they ridicule you, Then they fight you, Then you win. Keeping lithium batteries continuously fully charged will shorten their life too. Some people recommend charging the battery to 40%, then removing the battery and storing it in a cool place, and then every few months check the voltage to make sure it does not get too discharged. On better laptops you can set them to stop charging at say 50% instead of 100%, which will make the batteries suffer less damage if continuously plugged in. Of course if you need to use the battery, it is only half charged so the run time will be shorter unless you fully charge it first. Also heat shortens the life of batteries. Better laptops are designed such that the battery is not heated by the CPU. Some poor quality laptops allow the battery to get heated by other parts of the computer. If you have one of these laptops then charging the battery to 40% and removing it and storing it is a cool place may be a better strategy. http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries |
