It depends on the bulb, but usually these non-dimming bulbs will have
a "capacitive dropper" circuit: the input of the bulb has a series
capacitor, followed by a bridge rectifier, and the LEDs in the bulb
connected in series on the DC output of the rectifier.

The result is that the LED current is determined by the derivative
of the current. This works fine on a sinewave, but the output of a
dimmer has steep edges so the current peaks will be much higher at that
point and the LEDs will burn.

And your acoustically coupled MODEM is ?

Just what have YOU contributed that is on topic ?

That is even less relevant, at least I can say that if the OP is concerned with privacy against an ever invasive government it is at least related.

Your sole on topic post was "Just do it and get over yourself". That is constructive ? That is useful ?

Tell you what, YOU get over YOURSELF Snit.

Oe of my better moves was to get rid of an ink printer and go to the
laser type with the toner. I do not really need any color printing for
the most part. The laser really puts out the work and Ican set it to
automatically print both sides or even to print two pages on one side of
a paper if the print is large enough to read. The printer was on sale so
the cost was not very much.

I have a 22" monitor GNR TS2200WA on a repair or discard basis. It
consumes 2W when powered; presumably on standby. But does not move off
standby to full operation. I can also not get the back fully off, just
some daylight along the bottom edge. Has anyone any guidance on either
mechanical or electronic aspects? Please?

Mike.
